“Loss of habitat through natural and man-made disasters has made these creatures even more vulnerable and they need all the help they can get to ensure survival. I would like to think my respect and love for the koala is evident in my pastel drawing and it’s exposure to a wider audience will help to save this irreplaceable Australian icon…”  Hilary Ann Macorison

Hilary Ann Macorison: “Growing up in the UK with a passion for drawing from a very early age, my interest and practise in Art has continually developed. As a School Principal in the Yorkshire Dales, the fostering of children’s creativity was a cornerstone of my school curriculum. Arriving in Sydney I pursued Art full time, studying for a Diploma in Visual Art followed by three years study for a Diploma in Fine Art. Passionate about the environment and wild life, I was privileged to live off shore at Rocky point, Lovett Bay for ten years and my creative spirit was kindled in Pittwater with life evolving around water, bush and natural phenomena. I worked with charcoal, watercolour  and ink initially, to satisfy my love of drawing and detail, exploring new techniques and materials by working both alone in my studio and with other artists.

I have extending my charcoal and pencil work into pastels. The vibrancy, intensity and richness of pastel colours incorporating experimentation with new techniques is both challenging and exciting. Animal commissions are a large part of my work. ”
