Artist bio
Having lived in Port Macquarie for 40 years it has given me the opportunity to photograph nature in all its natural beauty. The local wildlife venture into my territory giving me the opportunity to capture the memorable moment with my camera. The koalas, wallabies, kangaroos and goannas, not to mention the birds, are my visiting neighbours.
From a lifetime of taking family photos, recording memories, my hobby has evolved into an artistic outlet, which has been a pleasure to share with others. I am a member of the Port Macquarie Photographic Club, and other internet groups, where we encourage each other to be inspired too and always learning from each other, and meeting in small groups we venture out to explore this great countryside with our cameras(and phone cameras too sometimes). My favourite choice of shooting the wildlife is with a Nikon D7200, and 18-300mm Sigma lens.
I live only 3 km from the origin of the bushfires in mid-north coast last year, and its path went south, away from my home. We experienced the smoke and a RED glow from the thick smoke for a day – as far as you can see. Koalas in the bush didn’t have a chance . It has brought awareness to their plight, here and all the way across Australia. It is great that action to support them into the future is happening, and I’m honoured to be a small part of that.
