“The Koala painting was inspired from an image that demonstrated habitat loss –  the Koala alone with nowhere to go.  The main focal point showing the Koala’s habitat being stolen by the dark hand of bushfire destruction… the face at the centre with no way out, trapped in the darkness. Bushfire destruction all around. It is my personal expression depicting landscape, burnt and raging fire, colours oranges reds yellows giving the impression of flame and heat, intending to portray a sense of loss and helplessness.” Lorraine Syratt

Queensland Artist, Designer, abstract, photorealism, composite combined styles, works are inspired from the real world mother nature and my environment.   My style has evolved with experience and knowledge in last  30 years.  Mediums used include acrylics, watercolour, pastel, pencils, charcoal, graphite, sculpture using random materials including clay, ceramics. Works are driven by what is happening at that time on my art journey.

My journey in the art world has be  varied, going in various directions. Initially a love of  drawing and painting, attending /art college to Diploma level, and having my own business designing ceramic pieces into innovative art works,  The subject matter for me will be generally be anything to do with nature and the real world.  Experimenting with different styles and techniques with my main focus on trees, plants and animals.  To see ‘mother nature’ in her true colours is an awesome thing to see, and to achieve in an artwork for others to enjoy.
