“I’ve always found my inspiration from nature.  Observing small plants in my early artist years to watching how weather, air movement and light change and move colours In landscape, nature amazes me and gives me joy and continues to challenge me in my work. Now, the bushfire devastated land is recovering, and it is a profound relief to feel that regrowth is happening.  But we have lost so many of our animals and the awful cost of the fires to our koalas has been terrible. They live on leaves…..just leaves.” Sally Horton

Sally Horton: born in Orange, NSW, Australia.

“When I left Australia I travelled and lived in England and Europe for many years.  A self taught artist, I’ve had the advantage of doing a great variety of commission work. In England I worked on botanical themes on wood, textiles and interiors for many high profile clients  including the Royal family, the Disney family and Aspreys of London.

Returning to Australia I painted large scale commercial and private interiors both here and in Asia.   The Sultan of Brunei commissioned many paintings from me for his private home in Singapore. During this time I had solo exhibitions in Sydney at Icon Gallery and in Avalon. I now work and teach from a beautiful purpose-built studio in Kendall, NSW.”

My beautiful Studio in Kendall is also where I have the privilege of teaching. For me to share my artistic knowledge and experience with others is an absolute passion and joy. My students are all ages. Some come to me after a lifetime of postponing a deep wish to draw or paint. Others have been already working on their art practice and need guidance and technique to help them get to the next level. The Studio groups are caring, supportive and fun. “
