100 Artworks for a Koala entry: Title: ‘Touched’

Size: W 152.4 x H 76.2 cm.  Mixed media of fluid acrylic and alcohol ink on canvas sealed with high grade matt varnish and UV spray.

“My love of nature is stemmed from early childhood memories of my brother and exploring our environment. I often paint leaves, trees and or their trunks. In the early years of our childhood my brother and I were each other’s strength, support and best friend. The trunk of the tree symbolises our bond and even though he is no longer here in body, I sense his presence in everyday living things. Most days I see the forest with all its beauty but there are days I am brought back to my arms wrapped tightly around the trunk of the tree, face against the bark not wanting to let go.” Libby DYER

A self taught Intuitive Abstract Artist. The spontaneity and unpredictability of alcohol ink and how it forms and separates into different cells, is what exhilarates me as well as hoping to tame my sense of wanting to organise and control. This  medium instills in me a true passion and complete acceptance of oneself. It transports me to a world of vibrancy, fun and exploration. Deep down I believe we all have creative expression. This is my passion, my release and myself raw. I  create on either canvas or yupo paper of varying sizes. I at times mix it up and add other mediums of acrylic paint, spray paint, pens and other inks.  My art hopes to embrace a very positive, energetic and fluid art making process. I view my work as intuitive which resonates in me and my audience a very emotional and physical expression of my feelings and surroundings.  I am inspired by the sounds of nature, the ever changing and majestic views of oceans, landscapes and skies and my evolving connections with them. I am inspired by life, past experiences, what’s to come and my loving and supportive friends and family.
