“The trees are a symbol of life. They are a connection between earth and heaven. From my childhood Nature became my best friend. It offers me not only desired freedom but everlasting inspiration and retreat. The wonderful world around me full of little sensations always removes me from the ordinary.” Marie Lund

Marie Lund’s training is in the visual arts education and has been acquired through Palacky University in Olomouc (Dip.Ed) and Charles University in Prague (Sp.Ed and Dr Ed), Czech Republic. Marie has been a full-time art and photography teacher for over twenty years in Australia and in a number of different countries in Europe and Asia. She has participated in many group exhibitions since 1990 and held thirteen solo exhibitions. In May 2002 she was NAVA’s Profile Artist on the Visual Arts Network. Most of her work is in Mixed Media and she has a special interest in old photographic processes as an art form. She has been a recipient of number of grants from ArtsACT and the ACT Office of Multicultural and Community Affairs, and also from ACT Heritage and from Nava (Pat Corrigan) grant. Marie is a member of PhotoAccess, NAVA, Eurobodalla Photographic Society, South Coast Pastel Society and Creative Arts Batemans Bay Inc (CABBI).

“I am a landscape artist. My work is inspired by my surroundings, the place I find myself in that time. My images are a fusion of my feeling and thought. The impact of the season, the weather, the time of the day and the human involvement across the land, all play a part in influencing my feelings and thoughts. I prefer to paint in plain air rather in the studio and I like to work quickly, spontaneously. I wander through places with my sketchbook and camera ready. Random choice of textures or colours expresses my personality and the dynamism of my present stage of my life. Balance is my guiding principle. Mother Nature offers me not only a desired freedom but also everlasting inspiration and retreat.”
