” Some years ago I spent a relaxing morning at the koala sanctuary at Port Macquarie [New South Wales, Australia] and was fascinated by the various postures this sleepy icon of the Australian bush was awkwardly displaying in the treetops. Artist bio
Chris McClelland is internationally known for his unique and intricate graphite and coloured pencil drawings of African and Australian wildlife. He is a self taught artist. Africa initially gave him the passion to draw wildlife. 40 years later and many trips to the African continent has given him an intimate knowledge of its wildlife. His drawings reflect patient and dedicated observation as they capture the natural behaviour, movement and interaction of animals with dedicated accuracy.
Now in retirement, after 43 years on the land, he has been invited to exhibit his work overseas in USA, Africa and UK and was granted Signature Membership of the elite US based Society of Animal Artists Inc. He is also a member of the Canadian based Artists for Conservation and is a Guild Fellow of the Australian Guild of Realist Artists.
