100 Artworks for a Koala entry: Title: “Out of Balance“. Size: W 70cm x H 60cm | Medium: oil on wood panel.
“The future of our beautiful koalas hangs in the balance, teetering under the weight of habitat loss from logging and bushfire. I hope that by donating this painting to the ‘100 Artworks For a Koala Project,’ I can help to raise funds to replace their rapidly diminishing habitat.” Lesley Rosochodski
Artist bio
As an artist based in the Macedon Ranges I am intensely conscious of the fragile beauty of my surroundings. I paint to speak of the importance of conserving nature, in a world where climate change and extinction are vital current issues. My support of animal rescue groups has led me to meet and paint rescuers and orphaned or injured animals. Their stories concern me so greatly, that raising awareness of the plight of the natural world has become the focus of much of my art. Most of my wildlife portraits represent a real life and attempt to communicate the soul within the animal’s eyes.
