“Art and creativity are, and always will be, my first passion.”

100 Artworks for a Koala entry: Title: ‘ Tree Hugger

Size: W 32cm x H 42cm  Medium: oil pastel on printed callagraph  paper

“ Cute and cuddly is the common perception of koalas – but fragile, endangered and resilient is a more accurate description.  If we don’t keep and manage their food supply of fresh and abundant gum leaves they risk extinction.  ‘ Tree Hugger ‘ is aimed at alerting more people about restoration and sustainability of Australia’s unique landscape and the koala friendly gum trees which are so important to their survival. “ Lesley Kane

Lesley KANE   “Layers of memories, drawings, and texture inform my art practice.  I’m fortunate to live on the Queensland coast and I continue to explore it each day.  My local environment is the inspiration for my artwork, and the stimulant for a experimenting with all things creative – including painting, drawing, environmental sculpture, printmaking, craft, teaching and mentoring.”
