“The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are so sure of themselves, and the wiser people are full of doubts” –  George Bernard Shaw

100 Artworks for a Koala entry: Title: ‘ On my Way ‘

Size: W 50.5cm x H 40.5cm

Medium: oil painting on stretched box canvas. Impressionistic style with focus on light, textures and tones to create art with feeling of expression.

“It is a reflection on the Australian outback landscape with eucalyptus trees shaped in the background eluding to the diminishing habitat of koalas due to human or climatic destruction that may persist without intervention. The artwork emphasises the need for conservation efforts to ensure the survival of koalas. The stark white habitat is symbolic of the diminishing habitat, the “fading” of trees, a view to koalas and their habitats being a distant memory and a more macabre view of the white hot ash from the bushfires of 2019/20 that engulfed the gum trees.” Liz H Lovell

Liz H Lovell: An Australian born artist with an early interest in art that eventuated a second career as an artist after a successful career as an institutional banker.  Liz obtained a Diploma of Visuals Arts from Northbridge Visual Arts School, undertaken various courses, Art Est and National Art School and  completed a certificate course from University of Newcastle for Natural History Illustration.

Greatly influenced by both the classical techniques and impressionistic art movements and in turn oriental and expressive art styles.  Artworks are composed to capture a vivid balance of texture, drafting, colours and design for an overall aesthetic.  Michaelangelo, Brueguel, Margaret Preston, Van Gogh, Pisarro and Hokusai are unchanging favourites.

Inspirations are from her travels, environmental causes and wildlife.  “Exploring and observing the interconnection of relationships that exists with nature. I look to assert their beauty and raise the importance of protecting and conserving the environment.”
